The challenge
Marking Grand Indonesia's 17th anniversary with the premier luxury theme "Red Edition", mall leadership appointed Livindo to fabricate the centerpiece performance stage and immersive spatial art installation in the East Mall Main Atrium:
- Dual Sculptural & Performance Purpose: The installation had to function both as an aesthetic fine-art landmark viewed from multiple upper-tier balconies and as an active high-capacity stage for live celebrity concerts and designer runway shows.
- Sophisticated Monochromatic Palette: Avoiding sensory fatigue within an all-red concept by orchestrating varied textures, specular reflections, and multi-tier gloss sheens.
- Dynamic Load Bearing & VVIP Circulation: Ensuring the stage deck supported dozens of performers, orchestra setups, and broadcast equipment without structural deflection.
Our approach
- Monumental Parametric Curved Arches:
Livindo engineered a sweeping 6-meter-tall portal with modern asymmetrical radii. Fabricated using high-precision steel box frames wrapped in flexible structural timber, the surfaces were seamlessly hand-faired with zero visible seams.
- Specular Materials & Embedded Neon Flex:
The exterior was sprayed in automotive-grade deep crimson maroon with 95%-gloss clear coats. Embedded along the perimeter was continuous warm-white silicone neon flex casting a gentle architectural halo along every curve.
- High-Load Stage Decking with Mirrored Surfaces:
The performance platform incorporated red mirror acrylic sheets that reflected dramatic stage spots and upper-atrium lighting. The heavy-duty understructure was rated for live loads of 500 kg/m².
- Interactive Anniversary Lounge:
Flanking the main stage, Livindo produced an exclusive VIP lounge anchored by a monumental 3D numeral 17 featuring faceted geometric crystal planes and hidden perimeter cove lighting.
Outcome
Grand Indonesia's 17th Anniversary Red Edition activation was celebrated as one of Jakarta's most prestigious retail milestones. Over two weeks of celebrations, Livindo's stage hosted top-tier fashion shows and musical galas, while the installation served as a viral backdrop for thousands of daily luxury shoppers.
